## Frequently Asked Questions

### Do you accept insurance?

Yes. Summit Ridge Counseling is in-network with Aetna, Cigna, United Healthcare, Optum, GEHA, and Blue Cross Blue Shield. For other insurers, out-of-network benefits can often be checked, and a superbill for self-submission is available.

### How long are sessions?

- Individual sessions: 50 minutes
- Couples and family sessions: 60 minutes
- Assessment and court-services sessions: variable, scheduled individually

### How often will we meet?

Weekly is the standard starting cadence — research supports that weekly frequency at the start produces better outcomes. As progress is made, sessions can often be spaced further apart.

### Do you offer telehealth?

Yes. HIPAA-compliant telehealth is offered to clients physically located anywhere in Missouri.

### Is the first session a full therapy session?

The first session functions as orientation — clinical history, presenting concerns, goals, and mutual fit. Therapeutic work typically deepens in sessions two through four.

### What if I'm not sure therapy is right for me?

A brief no-cost consultation call is available so you can ask questions and get a sense of fit before committing.

### What should I do in a mental health emergency?

Summit Ridge Counseling is **not a crisis service**. In an emergency:
- Call or text **988** (Suicide and Crisis Lifeline)
- Call **911**
- Go to the nearest emergency room
